“And do not seek what you are to eat and what you are to drink, nor be worried. For all the nations of the world seek after these things, and your Father knows that you need them. Instead, seek his kingdom, and these things will be added to you. “Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” (Luke 12:29-32)

There is great comfort in these words Jesus spoke about the importance of trusting in God for our daily needs. And yet most people even most Christians still worry about worldly and personal concerns. Perhaps this is because our priorities are misaligned. Jesus tells us that as long as we trust Him, we should not worry or fret because He will supply us with everything we need. That does not mean everything we want or we think we need or are told by the media that we must have.
As we face the future it easy to worry, to forget that Christ is going to return. Yet when we face the future with hope and expectation we will realize that all the injustices we see will be righted. All the suffering we endure will vanish. All the losses we incur will be made up in ways we can only imagine. Therefore we should always be mindful that since we have been called into God’s kingdom we must then carry out the work He has given us with gladness and peace. The entire resources of His kingdom are at our disposal. We are to use those resources, not to glorify ourselves or increase our personal prosperity or prestige but build His kingdom, not ours. So when we think about how we are to spend God’s money and the talents He has given us, we must be wary of copying the ways of the world or serving our own desires.
