Praise the Lord!
Blessed is the man who fears the Lord,
who greatly delights in his commandments!
His offspring will be mighty in the land;
the generation of the upright will be blessed.
Wealth and riches are in his house,
and his righteousness endures forever.
Light dawns in the darkness for the upright;
he is gracious, merciful, and righteous.
It is well with the man who deals generously and lends;
who conducts his affairs with justice.
For the righteous will never be moved;
he will be remembered forever.
He is not afraid of bad news;
his heart is firm, trusting in the Lord.
His heart is steady; he will not be afraid,
until he looks in triumph on his adversaries.
He has distributed freely; he has given to the poor;
his righteousness endures forever;
his horn is exalted in honor.
The words of Psalm 112 proclaim to us the joy, wisdom, and comfort that comes from faith and fellowship with our living God. The Lord is mighty and powerful. We can trust Him for He never lies, and always fulfills His promises. He will uphold His people in the midst of suffering and tribulation for He enables us to trust Him even in the darkest of times.
Today billions of people are floundering in the midst of darkness, chaos, violence, and hatred. The so-called experts, politicians, and media talking heads all seem to think they have the solutions to these problems and suffering humans are plagued with. And yet they ignore the truth that is the Word of God. Money, education, and medicine won’t make people righteous, merciful, loving, or compassionate. Repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus is the only way people can be changed and made whole and righteous. Would that all in this world of suffering and sin would read the words of the Lord and so turn to Him in repentance.
