“Those who walk the fields to sow, casting their seed in tears, will one day tread those same long rows, amazed by what’s appeared. Those who weep as they walk and plant with sighs will return singing with joy,”  Psalm 126:5-6

Similar promises are revealed in Isaiah 25:8:

“God will swallow up death forever.
    The Lord, the Eternal, will wipe away the tears from each and every face
And deflect the scorn and shame His people endure from the whole.”

And in Revelations 21:4:

  “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes.
    Death will be no more;
    Mourning no more, crying no more, pain no more,
    For the first things have gone away.”

What should Advent mean to us? It is a wonderful season of anticipation of the arrival of our Savior on earth to rescue us from a fate that is death.

We thank God for the gift of His Son, through whom He saves us.

This year certainly is a year of adjustments to new “normals;” accompanied by plenty of tears.  But we continue on, fulfilling our duties and obligations through the tears.

But we, as followers of Jesus, we have hope: a blessed assurance that one day things will be better.  Sowing our seeds with tears for now, but later reaping a harvest of joy.  I am not going to tell you it’s easy, it isn’t.  Focus on Jesus: the true reason for the season.
