And, “You, Lord, laid the foundation of the earth in the beginning, and the heavens are the work of your hands; they will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment, like a robe you will roll them up, like a garment they will be changed.  But you are the same, and your years will have no end.” (Hebrews 1:10-12)

It is hard to believe, isn’t it?  Christ was there in the beginning.  At the beginning of what, exactly?  At the beginning of everything – every single thing.  He was there at the beginning of everything that ever was and ever will be.  He was there before there even was time.  Christ made the blueprint for the universe and put those plans into being.  If I really think about it, I am not sure I can even understand this concept.  That’s how mighty He is.

And not only was Christ there at the beginning of it all.  He is there at the end of everything.  One day this earth will perish.  Our Sun and all the zillions of other stars will be gone.  The universe will wear out like a garment and cease to exist.  And even if we do not last to see that day, we, too, will all wear out.  Our days here have an end.  But, just as the heavens and the earth will one day be rolled up and changed, so too, will we be changed.  Christ died to save us from our sin.  Our death will not be the final ending.  He will remove the stain of our sin and transform us into holy ones worthy of His kingdom.  He will bring us to Him to live joyfully for years that have no end.
