“Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love; according to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.” (Psalm 51:1-2)

David is repenting here after a big sin. It was when the prophet Nathan came to him after he had gone in to Bathsheba. He is calling on God’s abundant mercy. I love the word abundant here. This verse reminds me that I, too, can call on God’s abundant mercy to forgive me. Even when I feel my sin is too big, I messed up on the same thing again. God will forgive me anyway if I ask. How encouraging and how awesome is his abundant love!
