“For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.” 1 Corinthians 1:25
I was drawn to this particular verse because it reminded me of song I’ve known for a long time. It’s by a Christian singer/songwriter named Michael Card. I’ve included a link for it if you care to take a listen: God’s Own Fool by Michael Card
Do others sometimes make you feel foolish for loving Jesus? There have been people who have tried to make me feel that way. By trying to tell me that Christianity is a cult, that Jesus is a myth. I pray for them, and so many others, who are blind to the truth and reality of forgiveness through Jesus Christ. The very One who was considered a fool in His time so long ago as well as now, in our day. Unfortunately, that is the way of this sinful world.
But, for those of us fools, who have had our eyes opened to the Truth, we are wise! And it doesn’t matter if we look like fools to others. God’s strength, the love of Jesus and the sustaining power of the Holy Spirit are all we need to get through this maze of our earthly life until the day when we are called home to Glory. We have this assurance because of Jesus’ death on the cross; that we have been redeemed from our sin and an eternity of anguish in hell. I would say that makes those of us who love Jesus, pretty wise.
Heavenly Father, thank you for opening our eyes to the Truth; that salvation comes through Jesus. I lift those who are blind to Your love and also those who are seeking answers, to You. I pray their hearts are touched by the Holy Spirit’s call, that they will join the throng of “fools” and become wise. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
